Below is a list of important and frequently asked questions. Have a question that's not listed? Ask using the contact form.
Q.
Are you accepting new counseling clients?
Yes, but please keep in mind that I maintain a small caseload of clients to ensure each client's highest care.
Q.
What can I expect during my first counseling session?
During the intake session, we'll have a conversation where I will ask you questions to learn more about your concerns and goals for therapy. I'll also share information about my approach to therapy, confidentiality, and other important policies.
The purpose of the intake is to establish trust and a strong foundation for our work together. I will encourage you to share your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly without fearing judgment or criticism. I will actively listen and show empathy, reflecting back to you your thoughts and feelings to ensure that I understand your unique perspective.
Q.
Do you keep what we talk about in therapy confidential?
Confidentiality is key to building a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship. I adhere to strict ethical guidelines and legal requirements to ensure that everything we discuss during our sessions remains confidential.
This means that I will not disclose any information about you or our sessions to anyone without your explicit and written permission, except in situations where there is a legal requirement to disclose information or if I believe there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.
I will explain the limits of confidentiality during our initial session, so you know what to expect and can ask any questions you may have.
Q.
How much does a counseling session cost? Do you accept insurance?
Q.
How long is each therapy session? How often do we meet?
Q.
Will you provide me with a treatment plan?
Q.
What is your cancellation policy?
To ensure that I can offer the best possible care and accommodate the needs of all my clients, I kindly request 48 hours’ notice for all cancellations. This allows me to offer the session slot to someone else who may need it.
If notice is not provided within the required time frame, the full session fee will be charged to the card on file. I appreciate your understanding of this policy as it enables me to maintain a consistent schedule and continue to provide high-quality services.
Q.
What are your office hours and do you offer virtual sessions?
As a full-time student, my office hours may vary from semester to semester. However, I will do my best to work with your schedule and accommodate your needs. During our consultation, we can discuss our availability and determine a schedule that works for both of us.
Additionally, I offer virtual sessions for those who prefer remote therapy or cannot attend in-person sessions. If you prefer in-person sessions, I am actively seeking a physical location to accommodate this preference. I will keep you updated on any developments regarding a physical location.
Q.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Q.
What type of consulting do you offer?
Consultation is a collaborative process between myself and an organization that allows the organization to seek opinions and insights from my lens as a person-centered and culturally curious therapist. The goal of the consultation is to enhance the care the organization provides its clients, students, employees, etc. It is an opportunity for the organization to reflect and gain new perspectives and feedback.
My approach to consultation is not about providing prescriptive advice or solutions. Rather, it is about exploring possibilities, clarifying values, and supporting the organization's and its stakeholders' growth and development.
